This medium-sized bird can be pretty annoying for many homeowners here in Evergreen, Colorado.  They are part of woodpecker family and love to nest behind siding on many houses.  They mostly feed on the ground picking up insect but also berries, seeds and nuts. Their tong can reach 2″ beyond end of their bill to catch prey.
